A Prayer For You

Last Sunday, Pastor Carlton did a child dedication and one of the things he asked the parents to do was come up with a bible verse they'd like to dedicate to their son and daughter. I cried, of course, but it really got me thinking. What bible verse do I want to dedicate to Isaiah? It didn't take me long to come up with this one because it has meant so much to me during my years of "growing up" not only because of how relevant it feels in almost every situation but because it reminds me of one of the greatest qualities God gives us: HOPE. "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 I don't know what God has in store for Isaiah and no matter how I dream it up in my head, it may never compare to what his reality will be. Thursday afternoon, I drove all the way home from work (about 20 minutes) only to realize I forgot my work keys, which I needed to open the office the next morning. So I had to rush back to work before my co-worker left at 5 p.m. to grab them. She looked at me like I was crazy. I told her I was. Then when I got home, Darren and I were going to meet my aunt and uncle and cousins downtown for dinner. So we rushed off to dinner and as soon as we hit the busy grid of downtown, I realized, I FORGOT MY PHONE. This would be OK any other day except for the fact that 1) I was the only one that had any of their phone numbers and 2) We didn't even designate a spot to meet - we were just going to
